Irondequoit Cooperative has a rich tradition of family oriented teaching. In the 60 years since ICNS opened its doors, thousands of children and parents have made Irondequoit Cooperative a part of their family. Many of our students have returned to send their own children to the school. It is not uncommon to hear parents talking about when they went to ICNS. In keeping with these beliefs, not only have many families returned, ICNS has only had 11 teachers in 60 years. People like to stay.
What Our Parents Say...
"I like the cooperative program and assisting, the small size, the classroom and playground. The classroom is better than most that I've seen even though it's somewhat smaller, there is a good use of space."
" The fact that it's a cooperative! I like being part of my children's education. I have met great friends through the school."
" I enjoy being a partner in the classroom and feeling part of a community."
"The size of the school as well as the cooperative philospohy are the perfect combination for a positive nursery school experience for 3 and 4 year olds. All four of my children have been through the program and felt nurtured in this environment. They quickly took ownership of 'their' school."
"The focus is on social rather than academic- I didn't want any workbook pages. I also like the creative atmosphere they foster. The playground equipment and more time outdoors also appealed to us."
"Since ICNS only has one class for 3 year olds and one for 4 year olds, we really felt a sense of closeness between families. ICNS exhibits a real "family" atmosphere."
